About Us
W. Christian Oakley, M.D., FACS, has been practicing surgery in Boise, Idaho, for the past 20 years. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado and completed his General Surgery training at the University Vermont Medical Center and the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington in 1983, before coming to Boise.
Dr. Oakley was the first surgeon to do a laparoscopic gastric bypass in Idaho. Our program was started in 2001 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center by Dr. Oakley and he has done over 850 laparoscopic gastric bypasses in the past eight years.
He is board certified by The American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of the active staff at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise and is a past President of the medical staff and former member of the Board of Trustees for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.

Payments, Fees, Billing and Insurance
Many insurance plans cover obesity surgery when pre-authorization is attained. Our office is will assist you in this process and will send to your insurance company letters of medical necessity. We will file claims to your insurance company when copies of your insurance cards are provided. We accept checks, cash, Visa or Master cards. If NO benefit for obesity surgery is available we will, during your first consultation, go over in detail the self pay option. Please feel free to call our office with questions about insurance and/or fees.
